NESCAUM works with the member states’ Environmental Commissioners Offices on key air quality issues. NESCAUM also coordinates with multi-jurisdictional organizations to support air quality efforts in each of these organizations. NESCAUM represents its members on national and regional policy and peer review forums, including:

  • Clean Air Act Advisory Committee (CAAAC) (1995-2005)
  • CAAAC Air Quality Management Subcommittee (2005-present)
  • EPA New Source Review Advisory Subcommittee (1993-1996)
  • Federal Aviation Administration/Environmental Protection Agency Stakeholder Process (1999-2004)
  • Science Advisory Committee for MIT-Caltech Center on Airborne Organics (1993-2001)
  • Synthesis Team for North American Research Strategy on Tropospheric Ozone (1996-2000)
  • Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee’s Subcommittee on National Ambient Air Monitoring Strategy (2003)
  • EPA’s Environmental Technology Verification Stakeholders Committee (2003-present)
  • Science Advisory Committee for NYSERDA’s EMEP program (1999- present)
  • Peer review panel for EPA’s CMAQ model (2003-2005)
  • Peer review panel for EPA’s National Risk Management and Research Laboratory’s program on air pollution prevention and control (2005)

NESCAUM staff have also testified before the U.S. House and Senate Committees, including the U.S. House Committee on Science (2003) on PM control strategies, and US Senate Democratic Policy Committee (2005) on mercury controls.
